6" 2K
Snapdragon 810
3GB RAM
20MP rear cam
5MP front cam
NFC
Bluetooth 4.1
LTE
Qi
IR blaster
Health features
Hardware integration
...

I'd have the regular version of your XL. I'd go to 1080 as a max, so I maximised battery life. Possibly also a usb c port?

Let's make a flagship called:
Nokia Lumia Perfection (or Nokia Lumia Future, Nokia Lumia 2K16)

Specification:
Device size is about 5.2 ~ 6.2 inch
  • 50MP++ Rear Camera
  • 10MP Front Facing Camera
  • Dual SoC (Intel Core M [for everything] + SnapDragon 810 [for 8K recording [when necessary] and 4G LTE and VoLTE etc])
  • 128GB ROM, SD card up to 128GB
  • 4GB RAM
  • Dolby Headphone sound enhancement with Loudspeaker
  • Noise cancellation microphone
  • feature Dual Screen, 5 ~ 6 inch 2K front screen, back screen is about 4 ~ 5 inch e-ink screen, use it as a second glance screen, selfie/taking picture without people using rear camera
    - the back screen display only when the user set it, quick setting can enable it
  • the back screen is the new Dual kickstand, portrait mode use back screen as the kickstand, landscape mode use the second kickstand (see picture, green is the screen, red is the second kickstand)
    View attachment 99585
  • amazing 9000mAh using three lightweight 3000mAh, 2 of them are non-removable, it was able to hot swap battery without let your phone goes off
  • with Qi charging tech
  • waterproof design, every connectors has its cover
  • with micro-USB 3.0/type-C USB, HDMI, magnetic keyboard connector (like Surface keyboard connectors)

Sheesh, I wouldn't dare want to know the price tag on a device like that ;) hahah

With Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 Q2 2015 I would use the Snapdragon 810 for the flagship now but for Windows 10 Phone in Q4 2015 when released I would use the Snapdragon 820!

- 5" to 6" 1440p
- 4GB LPDDR4 Dual channel RAM
- 64GB flash
- microSD support up to 256GB
- 3000+ mAh battery
- 55MP camera + 5MP front

That's my idea!

A Flagship should be like a top end car model. All the new stuff, most space and best of everything.

I loved Nokia because they had great hardware and always the best cameras.

Flagships also have great resale!

Flagships could also be for the best affordable phone with more features then that of a more expensive android such as Samsung Galaxy ace. I think Nokia are the best in both construction and affordability.

If you are buying on a sim only deal or pay as you go, then affordability helps. But for a flagship, I prefer top specs as the main feature. The flagship ought to showcase the best of the range.

For me, my favourite 'flagship' phones are

-iPhone 4S (I don't plan on upgrading yet, it does everything I want it to)
-Samsung Galaxy S4 (A rock solid, wonderful extensible phone. More like a phablet.)
-Nokia Lumia (I gave this to my dad as a present, it served me well)

If we could get a phone and OS that could merge all three of those, I'll be one happy guy.
