Where on this site can you get information about whether MS is halting WP? Or do I need to go to thurrot's site?

If that was anything other than a damn dirty rumor, you wouldn't have to look anywhere else. It would be plastered on every forum, newspaper and broadcast media outlet.

Until something or nothing comes about, these type of posts will continue to be closed.

Why would you think this site would know that? Even if it were true, the majority of MS employees wouldn't know that. People would be out of jobs.

Well, but this section is called "News & RUMORS"

If we can't go on talking about a rumor here, then where?

When "talking" turns to mud-slinging, the mod staff drops the hammer. Quickly.

Look around and you'll see threads dating back years. There's no shelf life on useful information but we take out the trash regularly.

Maybe because when Microsoft says new devices are coming in the fall, when specs for upcoming devices leak regularly, and when an entire OS update and a multitude of apps and services are being developed, that leads one to believe that Microsoft is NOT dropping WP.

This came straight from the horse's mouth. This should end all rumors regarding the demise of Microsoft's involvement with phones. A sad day to be a Windows-hating blogger.

"In the near-term, we'll run a more effective and focused phone portfolio while retaining capability for long-term reinvention in mobility. We plan to narrow our focus to three customer segments where we can make unique contributions and where we can differentiate through the combination of our hardware and software. We'll bring business customers the best management, security and productivity experiences they need; value phone buyers the communications services they want; and Windows fans the flagship devices they'll love. In the longer term, Microsoft devices will spark innovation, create new categories and generate opportunity for the Windows ecosystem more broadly. Our reinvention will be centered on creating mobility of experiences across the entire device family including phones."
