Surface Tablets again failed at NFL games. Messed up the strategy for the Patriots team. At least the commentators still refer to the heavily sponsored Surfaces Tablets as iPads.

Anyhow the Surface brand is now tarnished, and needs to be killed off to retain any credibility in the business market. Sack Panos and the firmware team now.

It was a conspiracy in cooperation with the Seattle Seahawks, stemming back to last year's Super Bowl.

The network broke, not the tablet.

Looking beyond just the headlines and you'll see that the actual problem was networking, not related to the products themselves. It doesn't really matter what tablet was being used, if there's no data coming through the network, it'll fail.

I don't know how Microsoft would be responsible for that.

There is also the realization that not everyone watches or knows about what happens during NFL games, and maybe the Surface brand is not now doomed.

But Tablets should not crash when there are network issues. The opposition coaches seemed OK, which is all rather strange.

You are speculating with a decidedly negative bias. We know it was the network. Other than that we have no idea what exactly happened. The coaches still had paper faxes. And if they plugged in, instead of using Wi-Fi, the Surfaces worked his fine.

Did the tablet crash? Did it actually blue screen or freeze, requiring a reset? It sounds from the reports that the network connection crashed, meaning that the Surface devices themselves continued to work properly.

I bet the calculator apps would have been super useful during the network outage.

The network going down was the equivalent of the Surface's breaking, which is completely not Microsoft's fault.

The tablets did NOT crash. The New England side lost connectivity and that was only temporary. They immediately hard-wired to Ethernet and that was the end of it. Unlike many who just see a headline and jump on it, I watched the game. CBS's Jim Nantz, who was doing the play-by-play, announced within minutes that connectivity had been restored via wired connection. Take off the tin foil hats, this is a non-story.

The Internet hate for Microsoft is strong. The clickbait potential makes it a story.

Amazingly, they probably managed to call them Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet when they break...

They called them Surface tablets. At least Nantz and Phil Simms did.
