I found this article of Thurrott a bit strange because we don't have any idea of sales of the ipad pro, or surface.

https://www.thurrott.com/mobile/66831/thinking-ipad-pro-surface-tablet-market

So I set out to guess as best it can be done based on what is known. What do you guys think? can you do better? here is the link to my math and resources:

Based on my research, ipad pro sold 1.2M units (likely). I think surface (as in pro+book+surface) likely matched that, which is no small feat considering apple can sell a brick.

And yes I know I'm taking HUGE assumptions. But as I said, that is the best extrapolation because I have no better data, unless you find it.

IDC said "Apple Beats Microsoft at Their Own Game While Amazon Primes the Low End of the Tablet Market, According to IDC."
Apple fan-site said "Apple's iPad Pro beating Microsoft Surface in 'detachable' tablet market."

And IDC also said "Total tablet market includes slate tablets plus detachable tablets. References to "tablets" in this release include both slate tablets and detachable devices."

It's just a ******'s wet-dream.
Apple's iPad series beat Microsoft's surface series, this is true.
Apple's iPad Pro series beat Microsoft's surface series, I'm not so sure about that.

Yes I believe iPadPro outsells all Surface devices.

Since the launch of iPadPro I have seen nearly 10 people in the wild using it. But I have just seen only two people using Surface.

But I would not consider Surface as a loss to iPadPro.
