The Office 2016 update sucks. How can I get my old MS Office back?

Since MS Office upgraded to the 2016 version, I can't work for more than a few seconds on MS Word. Every time I try to use a menu command, the program hangs then crashes. I need to work. So I want to remove the new Office and go back to my old version. How could I do that safely?

Try to go to Programs and Features and try to get your Office install repaired first
