A mate of mine has a corrupted word document. Totally inledgeable. Just random characters. The problem was they were opening and saving the document directly from a usb key on two different pc's with two different versions of word.
I've tried all the solutions on the following web site which was very informative but to no avail.

I've also tried a raft of word repair tools, demo versions included to see if they can extract any ledgable data but also to know avail.

I've also used JEdit to open it using different character encodings. Another failure.

Is there any way to retreive any of the data in this document? Please help
