I have my personal @live account being used for all my emails, device sign in, contact backup, etc

I also have an office 365 account from my college. I can get office 2016 through that college office 365 account

if I install that office, I have to be signed in using that same account, right? The O365 one

And if I'm signed in O365 in office 2016, will that affect the rest of the services on my pc?

Can I have my personal account used for pc apps and services but the O365 used for office only?

Yes. You can do that. I have two accounts too. Just login to your office365 account and do the install on the pc you want. One of the five licenses will be tied to that machine. You can also add your personal live account when its done and you will then have access to both OneDrive resources.

the thing is my personal office 365 expires in 6 days and I remembered my college rolled out office 365 for students. So I wanted to use that office 365 for students to get the license from there to install on my pc. Student license is valid for 4 years I believe so I don't have to worry about that license going away for a long time

Ok, you may need to uninstall office and then reinstall it from the school account. That's probably the route I would do myself if you needed to do it right now.

However, you could wait for it to expire (Auto renewal off) and sign out/sign in and see what the applications do after expiring. I believe I was presented with an option to sing in with another Microsoft account or work/school account.

I have done the first option

I'll try the second one since it's easier and shorter - in any case, I'm only going to get wifi on Sunday and by then office will have expired
