Have a microsoft surface 3. Have the dreaded code 10 error on Realtek i2s. (the device cannot start) tried updating, removing and deleting drivers, edit the registry. manually installing drivers. Nothing works. How would I know if the sound itself is malfunctioning?

Have you tried some headphones? Perhaps the speakers are blown and that's why you can't hear anything.
