    Hi

I've been looking everywhere for something like a Surface Book for my kids. I want something with a keyboard dock with a gtx 1050'ish gfx and a detachable screen/tablet - a Surface Book... I'm just not keen on shelling out for 2 of those to give to a 4 and a 7 year old!

Are there any alternate Book-devices out there?

There aren't any options I can think of that'll check all your boxes except for the SB, and I'm not sure there are any other 15" detachables. If you're ok with 12", there are a few options but I don't know any with the graphics you're looking for. Check out this PC Mag article for some ideas.

The Book has a pretty fancy design and spec sheet that is pretty much predisposed to be expensive - I would look for other 2-in-1's but I would also consider something more entry-level and reserving the big guns for later.

I remember my first portable when I was tween or so, an HP Mini 1000 with an 8.9 inch display and XP. How times have changed!
