Ok. So I just had a nice chat with Alexandra at MS CS. I went in with the knowledge that there was pretty much nothing she could do that would be productive to my complaint so I simply asked for the formal complaints procedure and took the usual update info which has proved to be as useful as a chocolate tea pot.

FYI ? the update was: bla bla bla?. Don?t know anything.

I took her name and got a case number. She's sending me an email which I?m to reply to, outlining my complaints and I?ll chase it up from here. This way I can send all my grievances to someone who specialises in handling them

I'm hoping this will encourage MS to handle my complaint in a formal way and result in real compensation... I live in hope!


Now I'm just waiting until the weekend. If it doesn't arrive by Saturday then I'm genuinely cancelling the order.

Upda0te from CS - apparently, all orders placed on 16th October have definitely been dispatched, if not already in our grubby little hands, we should expect them today. Believe what you will!

"Customer Support" is some third party company in Romania, they don't really know anything other than what they hear from other customers. They deal with lots of businesses, not just Microsoft.

If you phone the Microsoft Store on the U.K.'s free-phone number and you'll go through to a company in Romania. The person I spoke to there confirmed he was not a Microsoft employee, and that they work out of a business center. It's not an unusual model.

Mine just arrived, ordered 16th 32Gb with type cover in same box, VGA cable ordered on the 18th came with it. came via UPS. No confirmation email (except for VGA cable), status on order page is still in process. I am in Manchester

Still waiting here - ordered on the 16th, email order confirmation @ 16:39 so I really can't imagine what the hold up is, though as someone already noted, my 'hold' amount with the bank has gone down to ?399 and doesn't account for my cyan touch cover. OY :mad:

Are there loads of people on hold then? I'm not sure if I want to spend the next hour or so on the phone for little to no real information. You guys here have been the best source of information throughout all of this!

Just got off 20min call to CS, here are some details...

1. Initially wanted to fob me off with the fact I had a tracking number & I should use that. Told him it gave me no info on the UPS site, just a label had been created.

2. Their system said it was to be delivered by FedEx

3. His not overly helpful suggestion was to phone UPS, DHL & FedEx to see if any of them are delivering it.

4. Tried to get a supervisor to speak to me, but all were busy.

5. Did say he just got a document with order numbers which were NOT going to be delivered today...mine wasn't on it.

I ordered on the 17th, about 16:00, 32Gb no cover...can only sit and wait, as I have for the past 5 days!

So after getting off the phone to CS my guaranteed preorder for the 26th-30th is now a "probably today, maybe tomorrow, potentially Friday". Cheers Microsoft :D

Absolute shambles - the worst thing isn't that it didn't arrive but the lack of a tracking number/information - anything!

I can confirm, as soon as you get it, all your anger will melt away, the thing is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!! Makes my nexus 7 look like a toy

And on Friday the 2nd it will be:

"Ahhh yes the 2nd is what's been on the website all along, but that's only a dispatch date, from China!!"

Which means it will arrive next week on Tuesday. :dry

Did you have any tracking info from UPS before it came?

Nah, no tracking number. Where would they send this?

It's actually for my wife, though I did the ordering. Checked the hotmail.co.uk account that I had to create for her when ordering and no tracking number there (this is the email address they sent the infamous 'your tablet is delayed' and the 'sorry it's delayed but not as bad as we first thought, have ?50' email.

Her registered email with the MS-store is actually her personal (gmail) account and I don't/ can't access that one.

Hopeless

Just got off from the Microsoft store. Order placed on 17th, originally promised delivery by 26th. Got an apology and voucher that it would not make then. Called the store on 26th and was told it would arrive on the 30th

30th no surface :(

Called the store and they said if it did not arrive to call back today and get it kicked up to a team who deal with this.

So to today - lady on the line knew nothing, could not send me to a team that looks into orders, no tracking number, no idea when it will be despatched (but others have got theirs - so I really care :( ).

Was told all the supervisors were in a meeting to discuss the issues. She could not tell me if it was worth calling back later for more news.

Have told her I will reply to the email for feedback and told her that while it would be diplomatic (I've been on the MS Helplines - it is not helpful to be rude, it is not their fault) - it would not be pleasant reading.

No hold on my card that I can see. No dispatch email. No surface. Located in Manchester.
