Haven't been playing with it long enough to note any improvements yet, but I can say that downloading and installing everything took about 15 minutes which was much shorter than last month's patch.

Stuck at work. Please let us know if you see any performance improvements or anything else new!

I'm hoping at the very least that the "System Hardware Update" fixes the Wifi issue I've been having, and from the Microsoft Answers page it appears that it should:

Great question. The December update, which will be available later today, includes a few improvements for Surface with Windows RT. This update provides increased Surface Wi-Fi reliability, improved connectivity in various scenarios, and performance improvements including:
  • Support for Access Point names (SSID’s) such as “Eric’s Phone_1” including non-standard-ASCII special characters such as: ?, ?, ?, ?, ?.
  • Reduction in scenarios resulting in “Limited” WiFi connectivity.

What is in the December Update (12/12/2012)? - Microsoft Community

Edit: And of course, the ones that are just "Update for Windows RT" will most likely be bug fixes for other small things as well. The first has something to do with the system servicing stack, apparently, and the second is for a time zone thing. One of them is a "cumulative update" that doesn't say what it fixes, and then the fourth is a keyboard layout fix (after a refresh).

thanks, this is great to see since I have a Powershot S100. I wish they could issue driver fixes for more printers too. Reading through some of these more general Windows 8 updates, these are a big frickin deal. I'll be updating as soon as I get home.

One of the Office updates has an updated page and apparently fixes a very specific bug:

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable one of the East Asian language keyboard layouts in Windows.
  • You change the DPI setting to 125 percent.
  • You open the Options dialog box in Microsoft Word 2013 or Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
In this scenario, the wrong icon is displayed in the Typography pane.

Got mine. My Surf has been running weird/buggy for a few weeks now, most notably IE freezing and apps crashing. Everything seems to be running much smoother now, and more responsive. Mine(on IE in particular) has been sluggish, even with the last performance update.

Thanks

Just out of curiosity, for those of you who are claiming performance increases... have you rebooted the device recently? I haven't used it since the update enough to notice a difference yet, but a lot of times people get a sort of placebo effect from device updates just from the fact that it's been rebooted.

I reboot every morning, hoping to alleviate some of the performance issues. I have to admit my Surface has been acting odd lately. Sometimes, when I press/hold a link in IE, the option menu doesn't come up. Sometimes it does. But if it doesn't, it won't until I reboot. Little things like this. Hopefully today's update fixes some of that stuff.

I have this little prayer that MS has their 2 most intelligent people in a hole somewhere attempting to inject some real performance into this machine.

There might be some problem with your unit, or some apps you installed are causing problems. If I were you, I would try to do a factory reset, or to exchange it for a new one if still within the window...

I agree with this. While I love the app, cheezburger was causing my surface to restart randomly and I would send the error report. Finally I just opened up the "check for solutions" in the desktop, obviously there wasn't one but I sent a decent sized package to Microsoft so hopefully that helps in the future, but I'll be uninstalling the app soon if this new update didn't fix the issue.

I didn't notice a dramatic improvement with this update as I did with the November update, but I have not messed with it very much yet. As others mentioned the update went a LOT faster this time given the number of updates.
