Help with the VPN

Hello - I just got a Surface 2 and I have a question about the VPN. I use PIA and I was setting up my connection and got everything working, then, all of a sudden I lost my connection to the internet. As soon as I disconnected from the VPN, all my data came back. Is there a setting or something that I missed or has anyone heard of this issue? Thanks.

I use Witopia and it works fine.
Sometimes disconnects when idle but I still have data.
Call their support. WiTopia is awesome for support.
