Windows 10 Tablet Mode - Only two columns of tiles!?

Is there any way to show more than just two columns of tile groups in tablet mode? There is just so much empty space. On my desktop I see 4 columns and it looks much better. And the horizontal resolution is the same on the desktop and Surface 3.

I seem to remember an option in Windows 8 to show more tiles. It basically scaled the tiles to a slightly smaller size so that more tiles fit on the screen. Is there maybe an option to do this somewhere?

The Surface 3 defaults to 150% display scaling. Your desktop is probably set to 100%. That's why you see more columns on the desktop despite them having the same horizontal resolution. You could change your surface to 100% scaling to get more columns, but everything, including tiles and app controls will be much smaller.

I see. Setting the scaling down a bit did allow for more tiles to show. Too bad the text is then too small to read comfortably. I would love a setting to just scale down the tiles. It would be great to see more tiles but keep everything else scaled at 150%.

Thanks for the help though.

I was trying to have my desktop start screen match that of my Surface and ran into the same issue as you. I decided to come up with the perfect two column layout on my Surface and then match that layout on the start menu (not full screen) on my desktop. It's actually working out better than I thought.

If you do a reset it defaults to 175%, which is overkill, even though the recommended is 150%. Edge even picks this up so if you did a reset be careful.

I'm torn between 125% and 150%.
