hey, yeah and the files you download will open in their respective apps. the only exception as mentioned above are .exe apps which cannot be opened.

Be sure that you work on non-Classic Win32 apps because the OS will never let's you install those types. You can download other things like movies, songs, documents and PDFs.

Yea its just .exe that can't be opened although im sure someone will find a work around that soon after release if for some reason you don't want to or can't upgrade to full windows.

hey there. yeah im sure someone will find a workaround, in which case microsoft will patch. i hope people dont find workarounds, or else its like having windows 10 pro for free on the surface laptop (assuming it happens after 2017 ends).

Guys, the workaround to run EXE's IS changing to Windows 10 Pro, which is free for some time. That is literally the only major difference. (save for S not supporting a small subset of Store apps involving the Linux subsystem I believe)

hey xandros9. yes youre right, but we were talking about cracking the windows 10 s version in order for that specific version to be able to open .exe files.

For sure you can download files on Windows 10S. Imagine if students, primary target for this device, cannot download and stock PDF files on their laptops.
The only restriction is for *.exe files which cannot be executed. It was showed during the Surface Laptop keynote.
