So I was at my local Microsoft Store yesterday checking out the demo model of the Surface Pro 2, and placed a preorder for one. First off, they wouldn't take preorders for either of the new covers saying you could just pick one up when picking up the Surface (guess they felt they'd have more than enough of those on hand). Second I asked when I could come pick it up, and the sales person said October 17th. Then the other salesperson corrected her and said the 18th.
Sounds like the stores may be getting their allotments a bit early than whats being reported for online orders. Of course, not sure how knowledgeable the staff are considering I was also told the Power Cover would be available for purchase when the Surface 2's become available - which goes against what Microsoft themselves have said regarding the release date for the Power Cover.
