Broken Kickstand

One of the hinges has broken on my kickstand.
My tablet is 12 months old and is in perfect condition except for this.
I have contacted Microsoft but they say that it is not covered by warranty as it is a hardware issue.
This is Microsoft Australia.
Has anybody else had their kickstand broken?

No, I haven't had that problem, nor did I have it happen on my SP3.

Surely if it's a hardware issue it should be covered by warranty!? 12 months old... is that slightly before or after? Could make all the difference.

Microsoft say that even though it is in warranty because it physical damage that is not covered by warranty, this is in Australia.
There is no physical damage the inner part of the hinge broke as I closed it.

We have a LOT of Surface devices in this company. From SP1 all the way to the SP6. Not one has ever broken a hinge. None. Not one. Sure, the sample size isn't huge, but it's enough to say that there's no inherent issue with the mechanism.

, can you not just fix the hinge than? E.g. with some strong glue and perhaps tape.
