Why isn't my mail app syncing since the last update?

Mail App not syncing since last update

Anyone else having issues with the Mail app not syncing in the background since latest update? There was an update a couple of days ago and since then it wont sync in the background, I have to force it to sync and obviously miss email notifications as a result.

I'm using a Surface Pro 3 if that has any bearing on it.
