System Hardware Update - ‎1/‎30/‎2017 Repeatedly Fails to Install

Title pretty much states it. This things tries to install all the time, but never seems to stick. Anybody else experienced this one in particular? 67.4GB free, so it isn't a space issue to my knowledge. No MicroSD card installed (had that issue before).

Went to the MSFT website where I can manually download updates, but it wasn't evident to my pea-brain which download specifically applied to this.

BTW, Windows 10 Insider Preview 15063 (rs2_release) did successfully update on 3/22 as far as I can tell.

[edit] BTW, this is obviously on a Surface Pro 3 - bought it pretty much right when it was released and it has been a very solid device all along.

My problem is similar on my SP3. The 01/30/2017 hardware update fails to install according to the Windows Update History.

When I do a "Check for Updates" in Settings it says "Your device is up to date". The 01/30/2017 update last failed on 3/11/2017. Several Windows updates - including one hardware/firmware update - have since installed successfully.

The Windows Update Catalog is less than useless. I was hoping to find the 01/30/2017 update there and manually force it to install.

There is a download for the SP3 dated 03/28/2017 on https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38826. But it says it's "ALL the current software, firmware, and drivers for the Surface Pro 3; including optional WinTab drivers". I think that might be overkill for this problem but maybe not.

MS says that all hardware/firmware updates are cumulative - meaning if you get one install right then all previous ones are correct. And, a hardware update from Realtek for USB 3.0 installed on 3/29 so does this mean the 01/30/2017 update is now good?

And if not, where can I find the 01/30/2017 update to manually force it?

It will install updates which Windows Update did not install for me.

Thanks - so far it looks like the Surface Diagnostic Tool did the job. I'll report back if the issue comes back. I seem to recall that on a few occasions it showed that I didn't have any updates, but subsequently that firmware update showed up again.
