Anyone using Japanese language on SP4?

First unit bricked in the first hour of ownership and couldn't revive. Exchanged at Best Buy- their techs couldn't unfreeze it either.

Japanese works fine on my old SP2, but Japanese language input is garbage on the SP4. Drawing characters works fine for input, but that method is much slower than entering hiragana on the keyboard and converting to kanji. Hiragana input on the keyboard is garbled. Entering "nihongo" in hiragana yields "miramichiran" and then obviously doesn't convert to the proper kanji.

Problem only happens with Touch keyboard. The touch keyboard works ok.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Japanese language and no change. Is anyone using Japanese successfully?

Wait. So which is it?

Anyway, could you right-click on the IME to access the IME options while under Japanese, and then take a look at what's marked under Input Method? If it says "Kana Input," that may be the culprit. It should be Romaji Input.

By the way, I don't have a Surface. But if I try to type out "nihongo" while Kana Input is active, I get みにくらみきら. lol
