i5, 256GB - Surface Pro 3 or Pro 4?

Hey guys,

I'm a student with a limited budget and consider buying a surface pro. It's got to be at least the 256GB i5 model with 8GB RAM because I'm going to use it for CAD modelling besides casual office and browsing. I planned to buy the Surface Pro 4 since Microsofts offers students the same price for the Pro 3 and 4 at the same configuration (1304,10 ?) but I can't actually afford the additional Type Cover. Recently Microsoft reduced the price of the Pro 3 to 1159?. I could get the Type Cover from the Pro 4 in addition to the Pro 3 for the price of the Pro 4. Is it worth it buying the Pro 4 without Type Cover or would you recommend getting the Pro 3 with Type Cover?

tldr; 256GB, i5 Pro 3 with Type Cover or Pro 4 without Type Cover?

You won't be doing much CAD or anything heavy without the Type Cover.

I'd also look into potentially using an older Type Cover if necessary with the Pro 4.
