Does anyone feel that the rear camera is not very good? Shots seem grainy to me, do I have the wrong settings or what?

Go outside during the day and take a picture...
I don't have a Surface Pro 2, but it looks like they just put your standard 720p camera, like most laptops and ultrabooks.
It's designed for Skype, not for picture taking. (not to mention you'll look like an *****, like those trying to take pictures with their iPad).

It's your standard laptop/ultrabook web cam. Designed for Skype.
But I agree, for the price of the system, and a second gen, it should have a better camera.
I never used mine on my laptop... since 5 years, so I don't really care, especially never see myself doing it:
