How did you solve lack of storage issue?

For those who use their surface as a primary device, how did you go about adding more storage? I recently added a network HD to my router which lets me store lots of files but I can't really install applications on there. I could add an SD card but are there any other clever solutions?

The only thing that has helped me so far on my Lumia 2520 is to sync my OneDrive files to an SD card instead of the tablet HDD.

i7/512gb + 128gb MicroSd. I use Lightroom and only store a 'temporary' catalogue/photos on my SP3 (when on a clients site). I then transfer to a Master Lightroom catalogue on a Drobo when back home.

i7/256gb here. No issues with OneDrive, microSD, network HD on my router.

Music and movies on network HD (streaming to smart TV and SP3). OneDrive for pics and documents. MicroSD for miscellaneous stuff.

My phone has copies of my music in a microSD card, so I can enjoy on the move.
