Anyone know a way to get chromecast to work with Netflix and other apps like it

You'll need to install the chrome browser on your tab.
Run Netflix or any other streaming media app from chrome and cast via the chromecast plugin from Goog.

Did that but it only lets you cast what your watching on the chrome browser can't cast from apps like Netflix

What you are looking for is the Microsoft Miracast Dongle (or other Miracast adapters), it mirrors you screen.. so you can cast/stream anything to you TV!

I have a Chromecast and the Microsoft wireless adaptor. Prefer the MS device by far. Maybe you have a TV with built in Miracast?

Naw I dont have the Miracast was hoping there was a option that would let me use Netflix on the Chromecast. I like how I was able to watch shows and Netflix would run in th ebackground still giving me access to my tablet

Any modern smart tv bought in the last few years has DLNA.........to stream to your tv, all you do is play what you want on your surface, swipe in from right, select devices, play, and select your TV............other option is Miracast receiver, which is basically a mirror of your screen.
