I am taking an online course, and as part of the identity verification before they issue me a completion certificate, I need to submit a photo along with a photo ID. These items are supposed to be submitted via webcam - in other words, I am supposed to take my picture and then hold up my driver's license and take a picture of that. I guess this is part of the verification - anyone can send a copy of a photo ID, but if they see the same background and everything as for the guy who just took his own photo, that's better?

My problem is with the driver's license...I cannot get the front-facing camera to focus on it, no matter how close or far I hold it. Any tips on this? I don't really have easy access to another webcam, and I'd like to avoid having to buy one just for this.
