I'm settling on the configuration I need and storage wise I would be fine with 256GB. But I know performance is usually better on the larger SSD drives and I often do heavy IO intensive tasks.

How has the real world IO performance been between the 256/512 and 1TB models? Most of the searches I've done seem to show people having mixed results on the 256 models.

It is true that the higher capacity SSD give better performance. What it also depends on is the type of interface the SSD has. For those with SATA interface theoretical maximum speed is around 600MB/s. On the other hand PCIe can offer transfer rates in the order of GB/s. What is not clear from the specs of SP4 is which type of interface it uses.

It is the Samsung 256GB drive, model MZFLV256.

I've managed to find some benchmarks on it and there appears to be a big jump from 128 to 256 in speed and then a little more going to the 512.
