I realize Skylake is now 2 generations old for Intel and Microsoft has moved their newer products to Kaby Lake and Kaby Lake-R for Surface Book 2 i7 version, but what happened with the driver support?

The latest Intel driver Microsoft provided for Surface Pro 4 was in March 2017. That's before Creators Update even launched. We're now at Fall Creators Update. Intel released like 7 drivers since then with W10 bug fixes, game fixes, Shader Cache functionality, OpenCL 2.1 support, OpenGL 4.5 support and updated versions of Vulkan.

The OG Surface Book that uses Skylake just got an updated Intel driver last month from Microsoft. I think the Surface Studio also got the update. Yet the Surface Pro 4, a device that has the same CPU/iGPU as the Surface Book did not. What gives?

If I manually install a newer Intel driver than the Microsoft provides, the OS goes haywire and the CPU (i5 in my case) looses the Turbo function, so I'm limited to 2.4 GHz instead of 3 GHz.

Support the Surface Pro 4 Microsoft!!
