Pen question

I'm really considering the Surface Pro 3 because the prices and value is very tempting online now. I saw some reviews on the pen technology switching to N-trig and losing the higher pressure sensitivity rating. My question is pressure sensitivity connected to the actual pen itself or SP3? I know the newer SP4 pen supports the higher 1024 pressure sensitivity I believe. So if I just get the newer pen will that give me the same level of pressure sensitivity on the SP3? Appreciate any help.

This website is a great reference for comparing Surface devices and pens. Looks like the SP3 is stuck at 256 leavels of pressure sensitivity and a 75ms response time. Looks like the only advantage of using a newer pen is the initial activation force (IAF).
