How to get data off a completely dead Surface Pro 3

I have a SP3 that refuses to turn its screen on. The keyboard lights and eventually the fan whirrs, but the screen will not come on. I have tried all the keystrokes, combinations of buttons to force restarts, etc, tried pressing and bending the case, freezing, letting the battery run down completely, but it has been dead for 2 weeks now.

I have given up and am getting a SP6, but do have some data on the SP3 from after my last back up that I would like to recover.

Any advice for a poor Surfacer?

If you have and it doesn't work then it's likely the screen is dead and you basically have a doorstop.

Just take the thing apart and get the hard drive out (check iFixit for teardown). Get a case for the hard drive and voila. Your data is available.
