I haven't noticed any issues with either my Surface RT or any of my computers running 8.1 Pro x64. Are there any specific websites or use cases (e.g. 10 tabs open, metro vs desktop version of IE, plugins with the desktop version, etc) that you can identify as being associated with the problem?

I guess there's also the obligatory "have you installed the post-upgrade updates?"

I did install the follow on update. There doesn't seem to be much commonality to the sites in the crash except most have one or more ad networks running so it could be JavaScript related.

Mine keeps crashing as well. My update from 8.0 to 8.1 went perfect, I'm up to date on updates yet IE11 constantly crashes. I have reset my IE browser settings. Very very annoying. Glad to see I'm nor the only one with issues. Hope a resolve comes quickly.

Edit: I'm running on a Surface RT 8.1

Yep. I'm having the same issue with ie11 on my Surface RT after the 8.1 update. Ie11 has crashed at least a dozen times over this weekend. Hopefully something soon will correct this.

Whoever runs the Surface Twitter account replied to my tweet about the problem, so it's nice that they are listening, I replied back with a list of commonly visited sites in case that helps them identify the problem. Time to wait and see I guess.

Yes, I had that problem initially on 8.1 on Thursday and Friday. And IE11 was absolute trash on the preview. But some updates installed Saturday morning and it's been OK since then. I don't know what the updates were, but make sure you check and install them if they're available.

I looked at my history, there was indeed a "Security Update" for IE, KB2884101. There was also a System Firmware Update from 10/14 that installed on the 19th, and a Dictionary update. One of those appears to have fixed my IE issues.

Same here just crashes at random and seem to be just one big lag-o-fest. Using my surface used to be my favourite way of surfing on the couch but now have reverted back to my phone.

I haven't seen any crashes as of yet but the Metro version is still dog slow. Moving back and forth though this web site is an exercise in futility. It takes forever to render pages.

Looks like the firmware fixing mine was a fluke since others are still experiencing problems.

I have found some websites are indeed slow when you go back a page, but no worse than I remember with IE10. And unlike IE10, some sites are much faster when you go back. MSN is a good example. WPC is pretty slow to render all-around. IE11 continues to be stable for me now after the weekend updates.

But it still needs improvement. There really is no excuse for such poor browser performance in 2013.
