I have Lumia 720 with 8.1 developer's preview. Do anyone have idea if L720 support Wi-Fi direct? If yes where to find it, because I have not find this option anywhere in my phone. And guys I am not talking about screen mirroring. By Wi-Fi direct I mean peer to peer data transfer like Samsung phones. Thanks

Welcome to WPCentral, Soumya! I don't know where I read it, but I seem to recall reading that it was not in the developer preview, but would be in an upcoming release. It's possible that it isn't in the preview because it requires a firmware update.

I don't think its in the final version of wp 8.1. MS didn't mention about it.

I haven't heard of such a feature, if I understand it, you're talking about a feature like AirDrop or Bluetooth file transfer?
I guess NFC is the closest we have to it right now

    Hi and welcome!

Wifi Direct is supported on the S4 SoC but I don't think it will be coming since it needs to be supported by the OS and enabled via firmware and has not been announced by neither MS nor Nokia. The only thing announced as coming was Miracast which is not what you're looking for and will only be available on the S8xx SoC. So it seems like you're stuck with Bluetooth.

I could easily be wrong, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that Nokia was going to support it.

Hmm... I forgot about that list. I could easily be wrong as well. Hopefully WiFi direct will be coming with the Cyan firmware update along with the double tap to power off and HID support.
