i only tried freezing water shots from my previous 920 before. if you gonna do long exposure during daytime, then it gonna blow up the photo. you can try using a sunglass to 'bring down' the exposure by darkening the scene, just place it in front of the the camera lens (or get a nd filter in short). i have not tried that personally, but i'm going to do try it soon. :)

Cheers. I do miss the nd filter from the 808 as it made capturing moving water so much easier but I may try the sunglass as you suggested.

I have seen a couple of 1020 long exposure shots of running water and I was just curious as to what settings people have used to capture them.

I'm gonna pop out today to a local forest area which has lots of waterfalls so I'll just experiment with various settings with my tripod/camera grip until I find what works best.

I love these pics macrotronic. About how close were you when you took these, and how much of a crop did you do?
Thanks! :) Hard to tell... I think I was about 60 cm away from the little creatures and the crops are something like 20% of the overall images.

    Some Golf Tournament Shots -

Taken at a local industry event on Friday. Most are straight forward pro shots, but threw in some stuff from HDR and also SmartCam..

    Enjoy..

I'm really curious why the camera tutorial for long exposure says its great for night and water. Anytime I try long exposure, and its not extremely dark, I get white out. So, I'm also curious how to get long exposure shots of water. lol

Took the kids to Chessington on Sunday. It was a good chance to test out the camera and I was pretty pleased with the results. I took quite a few photos and videos of them on rollercoasters and other fast rides and the quality was pretty impressive too...you'll have to take my word for that though :) At one point I was taking a few snaps of the kids on a ride and a couple of guys walked past and one exclaimed to the other "that's that new phone with the amazing camera!". I smiled inside. Then a little while later I caught sight of another guy taking a few photos on his 925. I couldn't help inching a little closer till he saw the 1020..he looked gutted :)

My daughter wanted a photo of Hampton Court Palace so I tried to snap one as we drove past. The conditions weren't too great with the sun in the background but it didn't come out too bad considering the speed of the car as well:

This is a little blurry but the ray was moving quite fast..it looks quite dramatic on the phone but may be naff on other displays:

Bear in mind that I wasn't allowed to use flash photography in the sea life centre and some of the tanks were a bit grubby as well.

Do it during cloudy days or late evening. Or pick spots in shades. Use tripod. Use your sunglasses or ND filters to darken it more. Use ISO below 100. In short, the objective is to get very long shutter speed when exposed correctly.

Can we go below ISO100 with the settings? Which level of ND filters do you recommend? Thanks!
