You should all check this, Qualcomm official Lumia 1020 page refers to the CPU as 1.5 Snapdragon S4 Plus QUAD core. Here is the link:

Head to specs from the page.

    It's an error.

This can be confirmed by viewing the 1020's direct product page: http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/lumia1020/

The CPU listed is "Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Dual-Core 1.5GHz"

Please note that while WP8 can technically support quad core CPUs, Microsoft has to enable the function in the OS, in addition to their testing (which is why only one processor manufacturer is on WP8) to ensure proper optimization. Hence why GDR3 is being pegged not only for 1080P support, but enabling the 4-core CPU support.

Although this would be amazing, I wouldn't get your hopes up with every other website saying its dual core... Even the official Nokia website says dual core

Windows Phone 8 (even as of GDR2) still only supports a few different Snapdragon SoCs, none of which are quad-core.

GDR3 will bring support for the quad-core MSM8974, but that'll be a few months down the road.

The Lumia 1020 uses the (1.5 years old, for what it's worth) MSM8960, just like most other WP8 devices.

haha even if it existed it would only shutup Android specgeeks, there will be no use for additional 2 cores for some time :)

@JustToClarify: LOL...agreed. My 920 ran perfect, games ran fine, OS silky smooth. I also have an HTC One and a Samsung GS4 and with there 4 cores they aren't as smooth as the 920 was (not that the occasional lag here and there on Android bothers at all).

It really is a typo muderko.

It mentions the "Snapdragon S4 Plus". None of Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Plus SKUs incorporate a quad-core CPU! No such thing exists.

Even if it was a quad-core, then it being part of the S4 Plus series would signal that it is of the lesser sort (with comparatively poor single-threaded performance), meaning it would be slower than any of the dual-core Krait CPU's used in current devices. It would be a thing to avoid like the plague and definitely not something to get excited about.

If you want to get excited about a quad-core CPU, then it absolutely must be a Snapdragon 600 or better (although even then there will be very few situations in which you'll notice a difference).
