Was wondering if there was a way to test to see if my OIS is working on my 1020. I read a review saying that if you open the camera app and move the phone you can hear the OIS motors working, but I hear nothing. Also videos come out shakier than they did on my 920.

You have to lightly shake it to hear it. It has nothing to do with the app.

Zoom in all the way when shooting a video and tilt the phone up about about 30 degrees or so. After a moment, the lens should "look up" to center itself again. This should show you that the OIS is functional. I accidentally discovered this when toying around with shooting video zoomed all the way in.

Also remember that it doesn't eliminate shake, just greatly reduces it so if you have shaky hands or you're running, driving on a bump road, etc, you will have shake but not nearly as much as you would with another device.

That worked! Thanks! I'm approaching my two week window and just wanted to be sure everything was working before I couldn't exchange.

Also, the rattle happens when the camera app is closed. The camera app will activate the camera, stabilizing the lens and forcing OIS. You don't want it to rattle when OIS is active. ;)
