I am confused on the file sizes/
reading many many reviews I keep reading about 16:9 photos at 30 plus MB, but for me so far my photos 16:9 are around 13-15 MB size?
Maybe I got my Megapixels and MB confused.
One photo is 7712 x 4352 =33 Megapixels
The JPG file size is 9.37 MB

I think it depends on how the picture looks. When it compresses to jpeg it becomes smaller if it contains many similar colours

JPEG files will end up smaller when the image contains less high frequency content. This can happen when there is a large area of roughly the same color, such as darkness, or there's a lot of softness to the image, such as happens in a blurry photo. JPEG hates sharp edges and will have to spend more bits to avoid damaging them too severely.

Here are some stats on file sizes for a set of 133 high-res 4:3 photos I took:
  • Min: 8.52MB
  • Max: 14.96MB
  • Median: 12.55MB
  • Average: 12.94MB
16:9 images will be somewhat smaller than this, as they are only 33.5MP compared to 4:3's 38MP.
