trading my l1020 but how do i wipe my information off the phone?

Biggest issue is do I have to factory reset it? I've heard of issues in doing that with getting the endless gears of death. Any help would be great. Trading for a white 1020 for my yellow one.

Curious, why don't you like the yellow one?

Oh I love it but seen a white one a d wanted a change.. ADD I guess..

I heard that it could brick my phone if I do that hard reset. It happened on a l920 I had three times in a row and truthfully I don't want to be without a phone while they replace it.
