So I'm about ready to get an unlocked lumia 1020 (or a locked one and then unlock it) to use on t-mobile. from what i understand the rm-875 models are non-pentaband, which means i can only get hspa+ speeds. That is fine and all, but per T-mobile's twitter account, i won't be able to use it in 2G areas because they say the phone doesn't support that frequency (per t-mobile 2g = 850 Mhz). However everything i've seen only says that the 1020 supports GSM 850 Mhz.

So the question is....is that t-mobile twitter person full of crap? or is he right?

I wish I could but unfortunately they are harder to come by or way more expensive. Any answers to my question re: 850 MHz?

Ok, how much is the 1020 you are thinking of buying? Check negrielectronics or eBay for Rogers version pricing. It may be more expensive but you'll get full access to Tmo's speed.

As for your question, yes the Twitter poster was full of BS, you will definitely get 2G on the 850 band as all 1020's are quad band GSM.

Negri is on back order, and I literally cannot find any rogers/pentabands on eBay. And thanks for clarifying the frequency bit.
