Step 10: can be done easier like this =>

- press "RETRY"
- NOW connect your switched OFF Lumia via USB
- press START
-rebooting and flashing progress starts

No need for volume button etc. ...been doing it this way several times yet.

I had the software already installed for a while and downloaded while browsing few forums and sites but do not recall it from where I did that.

You can flash roms of same family. RM-875 with RM - 875 and RM-877 with RM-877

Yup, but I am able to flash RM-877 on an RM-875, in fact before I tried to flash the AT&T rom i was in a Telcel rom which is a RM877 firmware, but is not that big of a deal, I bet black is not far away from release on other networks :D

So, no progress on flashing the ATT's L1020 with something different? ATT's L1020 still flash blocked?

As long as Nokia/MS/ATT continue to provide on-time updates like with the Nokia Black/GDR3 then I am not extremely concerned about the block; that said, I am still pissed off about the continued blocking of Data Sense.

Same. Don't know why AT&T feels so fondly of the Lumia 1020 as compared to the 920, but if they continue to release updates this "fast" (because it's still eternity compared to what iOS users get), then I'll be happy.

Granted, as you said, the omission of DataSense is still infuriating.

Sure, most will agree, if att keeps pushing the updates quickly, then there is no need to flash firmwares ... I want to flash something different to get tether working, don't want to pay att extra fee for no reason since I do not have unlimited data plan
