    Got a new Lumia 1020 on Jan 25, 2014.

I hear a sound when I open the camera. Also when I press the back button to exit the camera app, when the lens closes, there is a sound.

Is it normal with all other 1020 phones?

    -----------------
    CASE 2:

Also a gentle tap on the back of the phone near the camera hump, and I can hear the some mechanical sound.

Does the camera rest on small ball bearings? Is this the sound of those bearings?

    --------------------
    CASE 3
I travel to and fro my company by bus. The bus usually travels at 60kmph on an average. So due to road patches and connections, etc vibrations travel to the passenger.

Does this constant travelling in the bus have any kind of damaging effect on the ball bearing system. Will the springs and vibration dampening capacity of the lens reduce over a period of time?

When I had my 1020(I'm on a 1520) that opening and closing sound was normal for me.

Yeah there was a slight rattle with mine if I shook it. I don't think you have much to worry about.

All perfectly normal. The system is inactive when the camera isn't in use so the ball bearings just wizz round when you tap the phone, however when the camera is turned on you can hear a slight whirring noise if you put the camera to your ear, that is the motors and bearings doing their thing! The "click" when starting and stopping the camera is also normal.

There was a little leaflet in the 1020 box that explains all these noises with something like "don't worry, I'm not broken" written on it, did nobody read it?!

    I did.

Nokia Lumia comes with some incredible technology that you can actually hear.

The amazing PureView camera inside your phone is delicately cushioned with
suspended optics that are literally rolling on tiny ball bearings.

So if you hear something moving around inside your Lumia 1020, don't worry.
That's the sound of blur-free photos and super-stable videos.

You can see it in some unboxings, it's just a piece of literature.

Try in video mode or push the camera button halfway down to activate the OIS. THEN shake the phone and you shouldn't hear the rattling anymore.
