Couple of problems. Volume sticks, plus no voice commands.

So had my 1020 for around a month, last few days can't decrease the volume. Have to turn it off and on again just to get it lower.
Can't soft reset either because the Vol- doesn't work. Which is just tedious.
Also Voice commands have never worked, which wouldn't bother me, except it means I can't use shazam or sound hound.
Which those few times I've needed to identify a song has been missed.
Mic works for calls and camera but otherwise meh.

Anyone know any fixes would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have a defective unit. You can bring it to the Microsoft Store or your carrier to get it replaced.
There is also a default shazam like software you can use that's on WP. You can access it by tapping the magnify glass and then the music icon.

If you can't have the phone replaced, here's a workaround for one of your problems:

For the volume problem, download Quick Tiles from the Store. It's a lifesaver, really.

Personally, I really can't see anyone fixing one of those software problems via anything but a hard reset, seeing that the volume down button doesn't work anymore.

(I'm also stuck with a broken volume rocker, so we're all in this together.)

Looks like I'm getting a replacement.

BTW the WP music identifier also doesn't pick up any sound through the mic.

Quick Tiles, would've been the one if I wasn't getting it replaced.
