O2 are currently seeking the 1020 on a refresh contract for 240. I'd you take the contract, wait a couple of days then pay the 240 off and cancel the airtime this is an absolute steal.

They state it's a 24 month contract. Unless there's some trick I'm unaware of?

It's a refresh contract. A lot of us here bought or 1020s like this on release day.

The phone plan and air time are separate. There is no obligation to keep the airtime plan when you pay off the phone plan. Pay 240 and cancel the airtime plan.

They also unlock the phone for free.

Details on refresh are here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/e?l...token=a5WTO5gM

    I see. Interesting.

Much as I'd like to get that I'm curious to see what's coming out in the near future. Though I have to admit I'm tempted but I don't really want to old CPU.

The 930 is interesting me but until a new Lumia comes with a 41mp sensor the 1020 will be king.

Paul Thurrott had a look at the 1020 v the 930. He was was very positive about the camera in the 930. Having said that, I would like a 1020 successor.

Also if you go via a cashback site might get more off

Top cash back is now paying 75 & Quidco 80 cashback it is best to check both quidco and topcashback to see who has a better cash back offer for your requirements.

    And also

@ 280 is a good price and i wouldnt worry about your seller making a big profit they've got small listing fee and a greedy ebay valuation % & and if you paid via paypal some of that also cut out of the 280 you paid.

I took advantage of this deal last week and got my phone delivered on Wednesday.

I got 120 tracked on Quidco which is due to be paid by May 5th, redeemed the 20 Microsoft voucher from the Nokia Gift app and unlocked the phone for free. So if you take into account the cashback and 20 Microsoft credit which i'll count as cash because I buy these all the time anyway, I've only really paid 100 for the phone. Awesome deal, especially because it's the 64gb version.

For anyone looking at doing the same, Quidco has increased cashback again so you can get 150 back!

Last month we had a similar offering by o2 DE here in Germany. Originally I already called my contract yet this special deal made me renew my plan once more. I got the 64GB model for 270 or something, which was a steal considering new and sealed 64gig units were selling for way more than 500 easily. I also didn't care about the rather old internals, performance wise this device is decent enough for my use. The only gripe is the rather underwhelming battery performance, which could be better.

Picked up a yellow 64gb from o2 store today. Cracking deal including a 20 Xbox gift and 34 worth of games as well. Will call tomorrow and pay off the phone. Bought it to replace my iPhone 5 work phone. Only problem I have is it feels really weird using it after getting used to my 1520.

nope you pay the 240 phone bill and then cancel the airtime ;-) if you use quidco they offer 50 cashback too so you can get it for under 200 which is an absolute bargain ;-)

What is it you miss about the 920 over the 1020? I'd be interested to know as I might have a go at this O2 purchasing option, but have a 920 already!

Have you done this and had the cashback money in your bank account? Do you need to be a Premium member, or will basic members get the cashback too?

...sorry, forgot to ask whether you cancelled the airtime element of the contract through QuidCo, or do you do that directly with O2? (Apologies for the questions, I'd never heard of QuidCo before you mentioned it above, so it's new to me :) )

to be honest with you , I have just done it , the deal has tracked at 50 and pay out date is the start of june , as long as the contract is paid and not cancelled I should think I will be ok , I ordered the phone Saturday afternoon and it should be here tomorrow , quidco basic account showed the 50 within 2 hours but they wont pay me until the start of june , I will put the sim card in it , get it unlocked , wait a week or two and pay of the 240

as I haven't cancelled the contract but paid it off in full I would expect to get my 50 cashback ;-)

edit - sorry everything is done through o2 , you just click a link on the quidco site and it takes you to the o2 online store , you make your purchase and it should track the order because you used quidco to link you to o2 , so the phone tariff etc is all through o2 , the cashback is all with quidco , quidco only pay out if you complete the deal , I would think that paying out the contract is completing the deal whether they beg to differ is yet to be seen ;-) you will need to call o2 to cancel the airtime and pay the 240 and get the phone unlocked , you will need to have activated the sim and the phone by putting the o2 sim card in the o2 phone , they wont unlock a phone that hasn't had the sim card put in it when I asked it was rejected until the sim card had been put in the phone ;-)

Thanks, very helpful. It sounds as though you'll keep the air time element of this deal though, which is the part I want to cancel and if I cancel the air time, I guess the cashback won't come through as the deal won't be completed...
