The 820 does have an AMOLED screen but the 720 doesn't.

I wonder if that's why they didn't put Glance on the 930.
No, glance screen doesn't cause burn-in. The clock and the notifications change their position every minute. The only possibility is having a glance screen background with glance set to always on where the background picture could cause burn-in. That cannot be a reason to remove a handy feature.

I also heard they rotate on/off on a pixel-by-pixel basis while maintaining the picture

They don't have AMOLED screens, they have IPS LCD which is not affected by screen burn ins.

I've done a bit of Binging and it does look like screen burns are back via AMOLED technology. You'll be fine as long as you don't keep your screen on all the time. I wonder if that's why they didn't put Glance on the 930.

Where do you live? I've heard from European Nokia customers who got their burnt in AMOLED screens replaced under warranty. Nokia doesn't warn nor mention anything about the screen getting burned down over time, so this would be, like the battery, something which is covered by warranty.

I purchased my phone from an MS store in the US, and took it back to them as such...

I need to do more research but my warranty ends in days on my 1020. Usually MS store is excellent with help... Lets just say I'm annoyed.

My 1020 doesn't have any sort of burn in or image persistence (so far). Does the image fade after a while? Some newer screens, particularly OLED/AMOLED screens, are more prone to "image persistence", where a "burn" of the image will exist temporarily then fade away.

I don't believe it's a big problem (being that it's at risk of becoming permanent or leading to more future problems) other than being an annoyance. The persistence may have varying degrees of it being a problem though.

Unfortunately, the only way to "fix" it is to replace the hardware. Some screen-saver or blank screen apps may help, but if it really bothers you then you may want to look into getting it exchanged.

It happens on one of my laptops' OLED screens.

Oh man, thank you thank you thank you! I've been trying to describe this **** for months to my network provider and Nokia. They both claim they'd never heard of it. The weird thing is, on a blank white screen I have a facebook tile. Though, I don't have facebook in my phone. The pictures you've provided are just the same with my 1020, too. Funny, when taking vids or pics, the ghosts are in the viewer, but the don't end up in the final picture. Weird! Anyway, thank again. You've stopped me from looking like a crazy lady. :-)
