Hello. As you see on the title, should I buy lumia 1520 or wait for McLaren? I have 1020 and I am happy with it, happy with windows phone. What should I do?

Personally, the only ways my 1020 could be improved for my uses is better battery life, and slightly larger screen.

1520 pros over 1020:
Better processor/chipset
(much) Larger screen
Higher resolution screen
Better battery life

Cons:
Huge device (con for my small hands)
Camera is not as good
16gb internal memory (if you're on ATT)

Unfortunately, I don't see sacrificing the camera and dealing with the larger size as worthwhile for me. Considering my 1020 is also still under 1 year old, I think it's best to wait for a better successor.

Note though, recent reports on WPCentral's homepage are saying McLaren was canceled, though other flagship devices *may* be in the pipeline.

We're fortunate to have such a choice.

I selected the 1020 after the 1520 was out. I had wanted the 1020 since its release, but I had been holding out, scheming how I could get a 64gb model in the US. When I was ready to compromise and deal with 32GBs, I was most persuaded by the 1520's SD capability. But, I was pretty sure I did not want to tote a phablet, even though that screen was/is beautiful -maybe if I didn't already have an RT and a 7" Kindle Fire. I was in the store a dozen times making sure that my sense of the 1520's size was correct. It came down to a desired camera vs. unwanted size for me, and compromising on storage. They both are fast, modern, beautiful devices with beautiful screens. I have 4 cases for my black beauty, and I'm very happy with its snug fit in, yet easy in-and-out of, the inner or sub-pocket of my 4 Levi cargo shorts.

Every choice in life involves compromising. Enjoy your eventual selection.

I have both. The 1520 screen is beautiful--possibly the best there is. BUT, Windows Phone 8.1 doesn't really utilize the screen space well as everything is just BIGGER. No more content, per se. I wish I could control the DPI scaling like in Windows, but I can't. So, the 1520 is eye-candy, but the 1020 has the camera everyone wants, and a decent screen.

Also, the 1520 is, as everyone says, BIG. It doesn't fit anywhere for me.

The 1520 is just beautiful. Don't know how I've managed to hjold out and not get one. If they have the 1520 in a 5" version I would have bought it already but the size has kept me back a bit just because I know I couldn't use it at work. Plus it would be hard to goto a lesser camera from the 1020.

Plz MS release a 5" phone like the 1520 with the camera of the 1020.

The L1520 is an amazing monster of a phone. But I do not see stepping off of the L1020 simply for the fact that it seems you are happy with the L1020 and have no reason to leave it yet. Consider that in the very near future you should be getting the WP 8.1 update, and then your L1020 will feel all new with that trendsetter camera. Wait for the device that comes out that excites you to the point you do not need to post a thread to convince yourself to get it.

For me the 1020 is one of the two true timeless WP devices. The 1020 for its awesome camera that still stands above anything else 1 year later and the 920 for its pure all round awesomeness and trailblazing nature. There are other good WP devices like the 1520 but these two truly stand out as classics. I'm holding on to my 1020 for as long as possible.

I also have both. I mainly use the 1020 for the camera ever since I got my hands on the 1520 (won it from that Cortana survey). The better hardware and SD slot was the winner for me. I still keep my 1020 with me though to capture photos. I would just wait for new devices to come out and see what's out there.

I used to own a L1520 and its brilliant, But.. for me it was just too big and too impractical and Ive got big hands.. but just couldnt get away with it.. plus it was very big and heavy in my pocket and believe me I tried getting used to it.

But yet again, Ive returned to my 1020.. this is the 4th time ive come back to the 1020 and no matter what phone I get, i just keep coming back to the lovely polycabonate beauty.

If you do try a 1520, do not sell your 1020.. youll regret it.

Oh and the smaller version of the 1520 is the L930.

Enjoy.
