I just purchased a L1020 and began updating it. It currently shows WP 8.0 installed and Lumia Black. I know Cyan is not out in the US for the 1020. However, I thought that 8.1 was a vailid update for the L1020. Am I doing something wrong. Is my phone broken.

When I go to "Phone Update" it states "Your phone is up to date. Last checked 2 second ago" when I click "check for updates." However when I go to the "About" page it states:

Name: Windows Phone
Model: NOKIA 909
Carrier: AT&T
Software: Windows ? Phone 8.0
Screen resolution: 768x1280

OS versioin: 8.0.10517.150
Firmware revision number: 3051.40000.1346.0001
Hardware revision number: 3.3.0.2
Radio software version: 3.2.04048.1
Chip SOC version: 8960

(then it states MAC address MEID - which is blank - MDN IMEI and SIM ID numbers)

As you can see the phone is still running windows phone 8.0 instead of 8.1.

Under extras + info the Software release is Lumia Black Application Version 1.10.1.17.

If someone could help me upgrade to WP8.1 I would be greatly appreciative.

That's ok, isnť it? There is no official update to WP8.1 for Lumia 1020 at AT&T yet. You can install only WP8.1 DP or wait a few days or weeks

I'm not sure I understand. You're aware that cyan and 8.1 isn't out for your phone but you want to upgrade to it? Anyway, install preview for developers app from the store sign up for a free developer account and then check the box in the app allowing your phone to download 8.1

If you do this you will have to downgrade to 8.0 in order to get cyan so personally id stay with the way the phone is now.

Is really necessary to downgrade from WP8.1 DP? It was officially told, there is not. I would post a link, but I don't have 10+ posts here.

Apologies I got called in to my squadron for some things. Anyway, I do have the update now. I did follow the advice of getting the Developer preview for all of 20 hours or so. Then I downgraded to 8.0 and installed the upgrades to get the regular Cyan and 8.1 software. I would like to thank the community for helping me out.

Go to the Nokia global support software update portion of their website and look for wp8-software-update that webpage is updated as soon as the update is available.

So, yes the update should be available for your phone. Go to phone update and try to download the newest updates for your phone while connected to a WiFi network. If you have the Developer Preview you will have to use the Nokia Software recovery tool to downgrade to 8.0 then reinstall the updates from there. REMEMBER to save all of your data and backup your phone prior to downgrading or you will loose EVERYTHING and have to start from scratch. The updates will take a while and a little bit of data to redownload so I would stay connected to WiFi during the whole process and make sure you don't have anything to do that requires you to go away from that WiFi connection. I also reset my phone after every update just to be sure. Hope this helps.
