im thinking if lumia 1020 gets most of lumia denim update (except for 4k video and hey cortana feature). im feeling that lumia 1020 is left in the dark just like what microsoft did to wp7 :(

The 1020 is a much better device today than it was when it came out because of OS upgrades, better camera software, better photo editing software, better onedrive support and integration, etc. etc. What do you want MS to do, stop adding any devices with any new hardware, and no new OS capabilities based on new hardware technologies because someone who bought a phone a year ago might be excluded? That's a great recipe for long term success.

i didn't said that they must stop adding new hardware. but thinking that lumia 1020 which is one of the best camera phone in the mobile world will be left out without adding some new features that was originally capable in lumia 1020.

Hardware limitations. I feel really sad for my 1020. I was hoping at least a continuous improvement on camera algorithm on every firmware update but there's nothing new for the camera anymore even in cyan.

I know Ralph, terrible isn't it how they don't love our older phones??

And what about my 920? After all, its only 2 years old which was one of the best camera phones in the mobile world. Oh, and my 800. I demand the updates. Give them to me now! I demand full support for my old phones  :winktongue:

i also have a 920, 520 as well as 1020. 1020 is just a year old phone, being left out without releasing a successor is a bad move.

I think we can all agree that MS/WP's lag regarding support for contemporary hardware(EG 920 dual core when most androids had quads) could have been improved, but the questions is, would you rather be without the phone?

I love the phone, and took some awesome shots last night with ois and xenon, which I wouldn't have been able to without it. The more I use it, the more I appreciate Nokia's guts for innovation.

It's already a Niche device, and adding 4k to that won't increase the appeal to 90% of people who buy it. You'd be surprised how few people actually know what 4k is.

Is there know way for ms to enable 4k recording on the 1020? Like how the 808 was able to record 1080p but it only had a ARM11 cpu and how the 1020's cpu only supports 20mp but yet we have 41mp

Cortana is coming too and the support is mucht than those for Android.

They promised an update for my previous Phone (Android) and they cancelled the update for it!

Nokia should've at least added continuous focus for the 1020, and maybe even living images because the 1020 did indeed support them.

However you will get the new and faster Lumia camera application, so that's a good thing for you guys.

Sadly, no. This is a real limitation of the SOC, the 1020 can't support 4K unless maybe you drop the bitrate and FPS down(a lot) which is unacceptable to most people.

But on the bright side the 1080p on the 1020 is still pretty amazing.

This isn't a thread for comparison between Android and Windows Phone, but I'll just mention that Google Now(Cortana alternative) is available for all Android devices with Android 4.1 and above.

Yeah 1020 has had short support life just over a year, and no susccessor in sight is the annoying thing. Hope the next version is 50+ MP 4k and SD card 1080p screen or course.

Given the hardware, I don't know if MS can do a whole lot more to improve things. In many ways, the Lumia is a phone way ahead of it's time. A great camera with weak-ish SOC. The S4 in the 1020 is a Q1 2012 SOC released in a Q2 2013 phone. It's 2.5 years old now. The SD 600 was already months old in the Galaxy S4 when the 1020 came out. I wished it had that SOC but we can't change the past.

I just hope MS releases a successor with a high end SOC so it can be supported longer. SD 805 or 810.

I just don't understand people......4K video?????? Just how huge a film you shooting?????? The Next Wizard of Oz?

I was at the Mall the other day and out of curiosity I looked at a 1080 vs 4K and the truth is I don't see such a marked difference. So I'm ok if the 1020 does not get 4K......it's just something to Brag Tag about the phone.

I can still see the reason to switch from 640 x 480 to 720/1080....the quality step up I took coming from an Audiovox SMT 5600 (WinMo 6) to my HTC HD2 and my HTC Radar and then to my 1020.

With no SD card in our 1020 we would not be able to hold that much 4K video any way...again just to become a gimmick.

I say live with the fact we still have the highest quality 41 MP Point and Shoot out there!!!!!! We can take better pics then most DSLR rigs. Add the 720 and 1080 Video is awesome by itself with the OIS.

My Nokia 1020 shoots better video then my Sony Handy Cam 1080p....and the Sony footage is not bad realy just a touch more shakey as it's DIS can't compete with Nokia OIS.

So I say only one thing to 4K video.......BALLS !!!!!!!

Out of curiosity, were you comparing them on a 4K display? If not, there's an obvious reason you don't see the difference.

To Top it not may TVs out there have 4K not many programs are broadcast in 4K not many people know about 4K and those who know will not by 4K as it may not be worth the money spent as the programs are still streaming in HD.

You need 4K video capability to be able to do the rapid fire picture taking at 8 MP; 1080p is terrible for photos. That's why it needs 4k.
