Good friends, just open this post to say that as the Lumia 1020 in photography, no mobile comes close is a phone that will give war; you, the camera, the sensor, the zoom without loseless, 2 gigs of ram, processor snapdragon s4 giving 25 gigaflops may seem dated but the truth is that it is not for nothing, is super-fluid, have windows 10, you can ask for more after 2, years of its release? I am delighted with this phone, the photos I get are brutal, and s6, child iPhone 6 or anything, I want you to give your opinion, this is a phone that will give much war, the processor is like a shot, the camera is by far the best, you think? a hug
The guys is my son and a friend of my son, honestly, every day I hallucinate more with this camera

I think Nokia did great with this phone, mount a good procesdor 2 cores, 2 ghigas of ram but knowing that windows with one gigabyte is going really well, the camera, the zoom without loss, the xenon flash, the sound rich recording etc
Greetings friends

Indeed, the Lumia 1020 has made its mark as a niche phone, from budding photographers to the professionals. I wouldn't have bought this phone if it didn't have the camera it was known for. Although I was introduced to photography and trained using film - knowing where to stand, when to click and how to mentally compose the frame before squeezing the trigger - I've taken more photos and more videos with the L1020 - preserving more moments in life - than through all of my previous cameras and phones combined. Owning an L1020 has stopped me from considering buying a DSLR for almost a year now!

The processor does fall short of some of the hardware requirements for newer features (such as SensorCore), but it is still pretty snappy for its age. Although the phone has 2GB of RAM, I believe only 1GB is normally available for apps and the other 1GB is reserved for processing data from the huge sensor.

We've got a dedicated thread for images and videos taken with the Lumia 1020. Although most (if not all) of the posts in that thread are photos, you may still want to check it out if you haven't already.

Thanks for sharing these photos, by the way. And we're glad your experiencing your L1020 so far. Can't wait to what Windows 10 will bring. I heard that one of the features is 120 fps video recording at lower resolutions - that should be a neat feature.

In my opinion the 2 GB of ram will make it work for a long time with windows 10. It will get slower with the future updates and only some features requiring considerable more real time processing will cause trouble.

I think the only down side to it is a tad bit slower picture taking. Good to know you're still enjoying it, it has to be once of the best phones Nokia made.

I also like my l1020 and hope, I will have it at least 2 years...but...nothing is perfect. Battery could be bigger, W10 builds usually doesn't work as well as WP8, no HW image processing chip (maybe thats, why N808 has much faster camera).
L1020 is still great (camera) phone, but in some aspects, camera in Note4, S6 or G4, works better (not even talking about CM1)...

*I wouldn't compare to DSLR. OK, in shiny day, l1020 has comparable details to my older Canon 500d, but...DSLR is chood choice because of equipment - lenses, external flashes...believe me - when you can us it, nothing can compare. Instead of l1020, I would buy...well...for example sony rx100 - enough size for pocket, real(!) resolution is better, focusing is faster + higher sensivity helps you to take better action (no so like DSLR, but significantly better than lumia) and night photos you can work with DOF, take longer exposures...have less flare on lens... L1020 is great, but good camera takes you much far...

Apart from the advertisements comparing 1020 with DSLRs, I do not believe anyone really takes this literally. RX100 in its latest flavor is almost 3 times the cost of a 1020. A second hand RX100 is a bit more expensive than a new 1020. And of course it has better optics/optical zoom.
Lumia 1020 is probably the best camera in its current pricing, so long as the photo to photo time is not an issue...because if you have children running around it is very hard to follow with 3-5 seconds in between photos.
