re: .164 users on the 1020?

Just installed the .122 update last night. Have to agree with Steve. The 1020 feels much faster, as fast as it was on 8.1. Amazing stuff! Hopefully the next build will fix the mobile hotspot feature, and stereo video recording.

Re: .164 users on the 1020?

I'm doing a fresh install from Windows 8, I had .107 and really liked it, went to .164 and hotspot stopped working, then had a boot/install loop, I think .164 will be great, but 1020 is really ready for a firmware update so things will work more smoothly.
Each phone is different, has different hardware etc, when specific for 1020 firmware is released, I'd imagine Windows 10 will be brilliant, being on the insiders program has been a very interesting learning curve, sometimes great, sometimes frustrating ....... thank God for "backup" ....
and I'm lucky enough to have 2 phones for down time

I highly doubt MS will publish a new firmware for the 1020. It's a "very old" phone and it's very much different than the other models. I'm afraid they don't want put this much work in a old phone

I know I'll get kicked for this.

If you like to use your 1020 for it's camera then there is absolutely no reason to go to Windows 10.
The 1020 is at home with 8.1 and performs as it should.
I just don't believe in all honesty that W10 can eek out anymore performance from the "old general" than what it's official releases can offer.

Not trying to disrespect anyone's right to experiment here.
It's just that the 1020 is all about it's camera and that's not the focus of W10.

My camera's performance is the same if not faster on w10.....as well as image quality. My wife also has a 1020 on 8.1 and I have compared photos...same photo taken with each phone. Mine spools up faster after hitting the camera button as well.

My wife has a 1020 on 8.1, my 1020 is on the latest Insider release 10. My camera performance is as good as hers. I will stay on 10 with my 1020 until a phone arrives with a camera as good or better than the 1020.

There are still quite a few new 1020s floating around the ether as well too. If mine dies, I am buying another. The only thing that seems to break is the screen however. ha ha.

Are you using MS camera or Lumia camera on your lumia 1020 with W10M?

Is it me or after reading all the news today, does it seem like there isn't going to be a "2nd Wave" of devices for Windows Mobile 10 and that all of the older x20 phones are being End of Lifed?

I've had mixed experiences running the preview builds (battery life has been the biggest issue) but today's announcement that we won't be supported moving forward on the Windows Insider Program really took me by surprise.

I guess the best I can do is hope the "Surface Phone" will have a killed camera - but for a 1020 user since launch, I really find it hard going backwards in the camera quality department. I have a 950 and it's not even close. Go and try and shoot neon signs at night with both and you'll know what I mean.

Am I reading today's announcements wrong? Looks like there won't be any further updates for the 1020 in the inside program, and we are essentially stuck on the current build or left to roll back.

Really don't think I am reading this wrong... but would love to be corrected.
