I've had my 920 for almost a year now and that's too long for me in phone terms so I'm itching for something new. I had my eyes on the 1520 for quite a while but it's now been discontinued in the UK. I'd really like a phablet with wp8, so should I go for the 1320? I will likely pay off my 920 contract, sell it, then put the funds towards a 1320. Will I notice a difference in terms of speed and responsiveness? Is there anything I should be wary of? Your opinions are appreciated, especially from those who have made such a switch.

Speed and responsiveness are on oar with the 920. What you'll immediately take notice of are four main things:-
    1. Camera is 5mp rear and 0.9mp front. The picture quality is horrible you can achieve some better shots with manual controls, but its still disappointing.

    2. Screen resolution will look a little less sharp. This is a 720p screen stretched over a 6" display. It's not a bad looking screen at all. Matter of a fact its a good screen. But because of its size and display res, its got a low ppi of 245ppi. Again the screen will surprise you as to how good it still is.

    3. Onboard storage is abysmal. Only 8gigs onboard. Which only leaves roughly half for user data. Fortunately, it supports micro SD cards up to 64gigs.

    4. Battery life is a beast-, this thing has insane battery endurance. Can easily get 2 days from one charge with moderate use. It's really the killer feature of this device.

Overall it's a decent device. I currently own one and love it.
Sent all the way from Jupiter with my Lumia 1320.

Thanks for that, I really appreciate the detailed points. I can't say I use the camera on my 920 hugely, though I am impressed by it when I do. Does the 1320 still have a clearblack (or whatever its called, I forget) display? The deep blacks are one of the features of my 920 that I like compared to my partner's 530. I'd definitely go for an sd, that's not a problem for me. Battery life is a big thing for me as I often have to carry around a portable battery pack just for my regular working day. Thanks again for the insights!

Thanks for your detailed response. But I'm curious, the points you raised, is it the same with 1520 or better? Also, can you tell us about clearblack display on the devices cos that's one feature I love so so much on my 920.

    Meanwhile, how's life on Jupiter?

The 1520 is better in every way as its a high end device whereas the Lumia 1320 is a midranger. The 1320 does in fact have Nokia's clearblack display tech. Along with tap-to-wake and glance support. It also has the sunlight display options to boost eligibility in direct sunlight which it helps alot with making the screen perform so good despite having a lower resolution.

Oh btw, Jupiter is fine. Can't see much past that gaseous atmosphere, but the storms are to die for.. Lol

I'd recommend getting an unlocked 1520 if you decide to get the 1520, so that you get many many more updates then the carriers will push. A friend of mine has a 1320, so I've gotten to compare the two directly (myself having a 1520.3) and while the 1320 is a gorgeous device, I'd still say go the extra mile and get the 1520, the 1520 still has an amazing battery, and man that camera is phenominal! I got my 1520.3 for around $400 new, I don't know if your looking for a contract pricing though, but if you can shell out the money to buy it outright, Id definately say look for a 1520 online, if not, the 1320 is still a great device that would perform similarly to the 920, though, I feel it would be a bit more like a sidegrade then an upgrade performance wise.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

Edit: I'm also gonna go ahead and add that the 1520 is the absolute BEST lumia made, not going by opinions, its the only high end lumia that has everything with no compromises, the only agueably better windows phone is the htc one for windows, but in my opinion, that slightly upgraded chipset isnt worth what you lose

LOL! Hope you enjoy your stay there. Anyways, I've loved the 1520 right from when it was announced. But the size is quite enormous for me , also it's still expensive here in Nigeria and we don't have contract deals like you do in the U.S.

The 1520 & 1320 carry the same 6" screen.. And I don't have contract deals either where I am. So o
You gotta buy it outright.. Which is always better imho. No carrier bottleneck to get updates.

Yeah, I'm aware of their screen sizes and lately I've been having interest in 1520 (I prefer that to 1320) and willing to over-look the size. But then, I started hearing it's being discontinued. I feel rather dad about this.

Oh hell yeah! "no carrier bottleneck to get updates."

well, being discontinued doesnt really matter, as long as you get it unlocked you'll still get updates.

Where did you get it? How much? And how is it working for you? I've been looking to move on from my 925.
