Yeah its kind of an oddball number to use....
Maybe the lineup goes like this:
1500 series = phablet sizes
1000 series = 41mpx pureview phones
900 series = High end
800 series = mid-high end
700 series = mid range
600 series = low end
500 series = affordable low end

But what goes in between 1000 and 1500?

What if the next ten are all 4 digits? With the 1020 being the low end that was only expensive because it was released so early?

And the 1520 being mid-grade.

And the 1920 having a quad-core with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage space. 41 mpx camera with a dedicated camera chip. ...and Kinect.

Ok... Maybe I'm getting a little carried away

I think they choose the 1500 range to make space between high end. Its a different line. If they choose 1100 then it was if its above the 1020 and thats not the case because the camera of the 1020 is of higher quality as the 1520 because that will be 20Mpx.

I think you've got to look at that number as something to set the tablets apart from the mobile lineup, or (more likely, imo) as the top end of the new product range as we've alluded to here. Just a guess, though.

Yeah, I got a feeling this has to do with incoming tablet. Maybe tablet(s) will be 2xxx? No idea how the xxx and xxxx naming systems will work together.
All speculation naturally.

Dropped it too often--USB connection no longer works, and when on calls, nobody can hear me speak. Too scratched up to stay in warranty. ****.

Aww that sucks, so is it sitting in a drawer unused now? Well, at least you have a good excuse to upgrade again!

I'm probably going to get the 1520 just because I just can't seem to go longer than a year without switching phones.
