Hey guys, anyone hear anything about a Canadian release of the 1520? Really want to get my hands on some 6" goodness haha.

From Mobile Syrup: Nokia announces 6-inch Lumia 1520 with 20MP PureView camera and Snapdragon 800 | MobileSyrup.com

Nokia Canada has corroborated what we thought: the Lumia 1520 is not coming to Canada anytime soon. “At this time we have no information on Canadian availability,” says Nokia Canada.

Thanks man. That sucks that it's not coming at the same time as everyone else. Canada's telecom companies seem like they're more likely to keep blackberry around rather than push windows phone.

I am waiting for Canadian announcement as well. Based on the history it will be coming on Rogers though.

If we take the Lumia 1020 as a measure, expect the Lumia 1520 to be officially in Canada in January 2014 (2 months after the AT&T release)

That seems very likely. I can wait those two months. Hopefully you're right! Haha

That would be a disaster. 2 months late and then releasing it in Black only lol. Wonder why we got spoiled with the 920 release..

Anyway, Rogers has been subtly hinting on their Facebook page. All we can do is bombard that page with comments. They basically said to "Stay tuned.." for more info. So it didn't sound like a definite "NO". But releasing it in January is still a dumb idea when they can capitalize with Xmas sales. If I have to wait till January I might just shop around for an unlocked one.

Now that the 929 has been leaked, do you guys think that the Canadian telecom companies are waiting for a variant of that instead of the 1520?

I bet, but doesn't the international model support T-mobile's bands? I could be wrong

Teaser statements on Facebook strongly suggest that Rogers will be carrying the Lumia 1520. To be announced sooner than later apparently. Looking forward to this AWESOME smartphone!

I'll probably regret this but I didn't feel like waiting for Rogers to make up their mind and splurged on the unlocked international 32gb model online. I paid quite a bit for it and it supposedly ships around the 23rd. The bands look to be compatible with Rogers but didn't look Wind compatible. But I could be wrong. I also didn't see confirmation of built in wireless charging. Would be a surprise bonus if it came with it. So now if Rogers does actually announce it in a couple days and releases a quad band, 32gb, with wireless charging for $699 I'll be hitting myself lol. Guess I could always try to unload it on Kijiji if I wanted to..

I'm afraid they won't. Their executives are too narrow minded and think tried and true phones are the way to go. They are always the last telecom to do anything, they are more followers than Rogers or Telus, which sucks because Bell probably has the best coverage.

It may be sim free but it looks like the US variant by the specs. No Qi and no AWS HSPA. If you haven't got it already you might be waiting for a while. AT&T has no date announced for that variant. Only the 16GB is about to be released . Woah just noticed no 1700 band 4 LTE either. Wrong model for Canada.

Well to my understanding the 32gb international model comes with built im wireless charging (from what I've heard anyway). Yes it is missing the 1700mhz Lte band for AWS but it has the 2600mhz band which Rogers rolled out last year. I live as downtown as I possibly can so there's no reason why I shouldn't catch that 2600mhz band 95% of the time. The estimated shipping date by the way was also recently updated. It originally said November 23-25. Now it only says November 25.

The AT&T unlocked version of the 1520 will not work on T-Mobile LTE. It only has LTE 2,5, and 17
Wait and find the RM-938 variant, Qi charging, 32GB.
