re: Lumia 1520 Bugs & Defects

My firmware is 1402 on a UK 1520, when I look for an update there is nothing.

What are the full OS and firmware builds listed? Going by the 1402 and 1407 isn't as important as going by the second number. If you're on a firmware that has 3534 you're out of date. If you have a firmware that says 3562 then you're up to date.

So you should be at something like 8.0.10521.155 with firmware 1028.3562.1402.1001 if you're up to date.

Yes I'm on 1028.3562.1402.0001 so it looks like I'm ok then, thanks.

It is just how Windows Phone Handles it. Sorry. Maybe this behavior will change in 8.1 probably not. WP is stable and doesn't seem to be designed with restarts in mind. Hence, how you can't charge your phone and it stay off.

re: Lumia 1520 Bugs & Defects

So far, I have seen only one other person with this "bug" from browsing these forums.

My micro SD (64 GB sandisk, 32 GB sandisk, and kingston 16 GB ) cannot be detected by the phone. The Micro SD option is grayed out under Settings.

In addition, the phones takes much longer to reboot (about 4-5 minutes) when there is an SD card, even though it is not detecting it.

Done a factory reset and formatted the cards as per Nokia customer support, but the bug remains.

Anyone else know why my Lumia 1520 cannot read / detect my Micro SD? or had the same problem?

I am attaching some screen shots.

What makes you think that is a phone bug and not an issue with the types of cards you are using? What "speed/type" are they?

That is the original build for the phones. They have had at least 2 updates since that build.

When you check for updates are you connected to WiFi?

Ok, so I got the update problem fixed. And I think the sensitivity problem got better, not gonna say completely fixed, but it's getting there. It's not an issue anymore.

One thing I did notice after the update, my phone used to have almost 0 battery drain when the phone is on standby, now it drains around 2% each hour on standby. Does anybody else notice this or is it just me?

Thanks! I made sure to look up the cards in the forum prior to purchasing. Others have had success with the cards. Here they are:

Amazon.com: SanDisk Ultra 32 GB MicroSDHC C10/UHS1 Memory Card with Adapter (SDSDQU-032G-AFFP-A): Electronics

Amazon.com: SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card 30MB/s with Adapter SDSDQU-064G-AFFP-A: Electronics

Between 1-2% drain is normal on standby if you're not in a perfect cell reception zone and/or if you leave WiFi on.

Actually, I think those are the cards that DO have issues based on the posts in this forum. 30mbs is not fast enough according to posts I have read.

Here is a link to the Ultra version...80mbs...I have the 32MB version of this card and have not had a single issue.

Extreme Plus cards from Sandisk are the units required to not have any issues. The Extreme and below models have all had reported issues. The Extreme Plus line are the only ones I have seen with little to no reports.

re: Lumia 1520 Bugs & Defects

I've updated and my 1520 still has the tap instead of swipe error all the time.. I'm starting to believe that it is a factory defect.. So thing to do with the way they shoved these new screen types on top the camera.. I think the camera lens is being pressed against the screen from underneath on all these phones.. I can't believe that Nokia hasn't responded to this yet .. Its been going on with lots and lots of people. People that have given up and returned their phones for "new" 1520's are still having this problem with the new ones..

It's an IPS LCD. It's not a new screen type.

The number of reports I see is fairly small to be honest. I usually see a way larger number of reports for something that is a huge issue.

Does anyone have any battery life issues with this phone? I bought mine yesterday and my discharge rate is bad. On my first charge it hold up very well. But second time not so much. Could be because its new? Don't know.
